ADDITIONS AND WINS FOR JUNE

Midway through the season and everyone from ECLD are qualified for districts! Ben Tetz fought his way to a 2nd place finish and qualifying spot at Arundel golf park, with a nice set of 350+Yd drives. A few weeks later he took first at Deer Run Golf Club for the bye in PA! Down south, The “Hitman” – Don Hihn won both the open and senior divisions for the TX qualifier hitting.

On a side note we would like to welcome Henry Kurusz to the team. Henry won a qualifier in Greenville, SC with a 416Yd drive and has qualified for the Northeast distrcts with a 342Yd drive in Sewell, NJ. Henry is best noted for winning the 2003 Pinnacle Distance Challenge and for his 5th place finish at Shanks shootout!

May – A Great Start For East Coast Long Drive!

East Coast Long Drive was started about 9 months from now and has already thrown up respectable numbers and wins in this month alone! We first started out with Tom Garber giving an exceptional performance at this years RE/MAX of Texas shootout. Tom Garber hit tremendous and steady drives to pull through into a late RD 6 during the senior competition. A few weeks later in Sewell New Jersey, ECLD team member John Foelber qualified for the Northeast RE/MAX WLDC District Qualifier with a 3rd place 339 Yd drive. Foelbers qualifying drive fought the 15MPH wind onto an all carry, drenched grid.

The following weekend Eddie Cruz, John Foelber, and Ben Tetz traveled down south for Shanks Shootout in Greenville, SC. (All three competitors made it into RD 4) Foelber and Tetz both hit drives over 370 Yds and Cruz had a few 360+ Yd drives. Everyone from ECLD would like to thank Mike Brody, Robbie Biershenk, and all of the sponsors who contributed and donated equipment and golf apparel. Under Armour + Tom Garber

Under Armour is now the exclusive golf apparel of the East Coast Long Drive Team! We will be wearing new shirts and hats from our associates from Under Armour. We would also like to Congratulate ECLD Team member Tom Garber, for winning the senior division local at Shanks! With a pair of drives (355 and 359 yards,) Tom took first place and a bye into the 2nd round at Districts.

Spring Cleaning

Spring is here and the ECLD team is ready to rock the grid. We have separated into a different team other than DSD due to contract and sponsorship issues. The biographies of Tyler, Matt, and the other DSD guys will still be on the ‘Bio’ pages but not affiliated on the ECLD team. We will be filling in at least 3 new spots this year so if you are interested email us at info@eastcoastlongdrive.com. While working on the new flash site, we have decided to continue to add more in-depth range reviews. News, Team Bio’s, Range Reviews, Links, and Media will be updated on the flash site. All else will be updated on the html site until further notice.

Metter and friends!

The Metter Invitational event is fast approaching and we would like to wish good luck to all the competitors. Some of the ECLD Crew will be down there including Eddie Cruz and Tyler Hagemann. The ECLDA would also like to say welcome to new team member Tom Garber from South Carolina. Tom first got into long drive in mid 2006 and fell in love with the sport. He continues to strengthen his swing and hopes to qualify for the World Long Drive Championship every year as a senior hitter. Tom brings 30 years of golf experience to the ECLDA, as well as one of the best personalities that this sport has to offer.

Henson at the Desert Launch

Matt Henson qualified for the Desert Launch LDA members only event in Mesquite with a smooth 324 yard drive on a very cold and short grid in Mesquite, NV. Henson was knocked out early but answered back with a 356 yard drive to grab second in the 4th Diamond in the Desert Qualifier.

We would also like to announce that long time veteran of Long Drive Don Hihn and newcomer Justin Bair have been added to the East Coast Long Drive Association. Don Hihn has an extensive background in Long Drive and it is a great honor to have him with us!
